ABOUT SAULS COLLECTIVE
We’re Dean and Tricia Sauls, two artists based in Cary, North Carolina. We make original art because it is part of how we live — through the studio, the home, and the work we return to every day. Sauls Collective grew from that shared life around painting, interiors, objects, and making things by hand.
We paint nothing alike — I work in abstract expressionism, and Tricia paints still life. We’ve always followed our own creative paths, but those differences are what give Sauls Collective its character. We work directly with collectors, interior designers, trade professionals, hospitality projects, and people looking for original art that feels personal, considered, and right for their space.
A Shared Creative Life
We live together, we paint together, art is just the center of everything for us. We've always been this way — making things, caring about how spaces feel, surrounding ourselves with work we love. Sauls Collective came out of that naturally — it wasn't a business plan, it was just the next obvious thing.
We couldn’t be more different in how we work. Tricia is drawn to joy, color, and the beauty she finds in everyday objects. She is observant and decisive — she sees what she wants to paint and goes for it. I usually start with no fixed plan, just drawing, paint, and mark-making until something starts to show up. Somehow, it works.

I’ve always needed to make things. If it’s creative, I’m in. My abstract work starts with automatic drawing, painting, and mark-making — no fixed plan, just building layers until something starts to show up. The process is unpredictable, but that has always been the point. I would not change it for anything.
TRICIA SAULS
Still Life Artist
I paint because it genuinely makes me happy. I love making work that brings color and joy into someone’s space. There is something rewarding about being an artist — you always have a reason to keep growing, and every once in a while, you get to look back and feel proud of how far you’ve come.
